Increase your endurance with BEETS?!

Beets have been getting a lot of hype in the fitness world lately. A lot of times hype, is just that, hype, and most likely it's worth ignoring.

But I must admit, I've jumped on the beetroot bandwagon.

Beetroot is a nutrient dense vegetable with many health benefits. It is rich in Vitamins A, B and C; antioxidants beta-carotene and beta-cyanine; folic acid, magnesium, potassium, phosphorous, iron, and fiber. All good things. But that's not why beets are getting all of the attention.
Research has shown that beetroot can increase endurance, and performance. In a sense beets are sort of like a natural supplement.

Beets are high in nitrates which gets coverted NO2 when it enters your mouth and mixes with saliva, and then to NO (nitric oxide) when it enters your stomach and mixes with your stomach acid. Nitric Oxide increases bloodflow to your muscles and increases your ability to produce energy. Which will increase your performance and leave your feeling less fatigued.
Nitric Oxide is also the same ingredient used in many popular supplements. And for good reason, there is science to back up the results

So if you are looking for a natural way to increase your performance, give the mighty beet a shot. It's full of other health benefits, so it can't hurt.
And one more thing, if you eat roasted beets, don't be afraid to eat the skin, just make sure you wash them really well first. This skin actually contains a great deal of nutrients that get wasted when you peel them.

Here is a great juice recipe to get you started.

Energizing, nutritious and cleansing.
